Vata is very much like the wind - it is light, cool, dry and mobile. In the body those qualities are expressed in light, thin bones, dry skin and hair and a quick deposition. When out of balance, Vata individuals become constipated, and have weakness in their immune and nervous system.

These qualities are also reflected in personality. In balance, Vata promotes creativity, flexibility, and enthusiasm. Out of balance, Vata produces fear, worry and anxiety.
